Nowata’s Spring is Blooming!

A Oklahoma Redbud

My granddaughter and I were driving around Nowata yesterday and we delighted to see
 Spring popping out everywhere! People were working in their yards, birds were singing!
Yes, Spring was here in the heartland of America.

There were many forsythia  bushes blooming around every corner we turned. This year the forsythia’s yellow
seems to be more intense than other years. I have loved this shrub since I was very young and nothing
seems to say Spring has arrived more than daffodils and the forsythias.

Daffodils Proclaiming Spring!

Every season of the year has it’s own statement and joys to be found. This week I remembered something I did
in my childhood; picking daffodils and putting them into water with food coloring. The color will come up
into the yellow flowers in streaks. It is a fun activity and teaches children how plants absorb water. I would
usually chose green, however, my granddaughter chose orange for her daffodil experiment. The orange in
the water made the ruffled tips of the daffodil a wonderful shade of orange.

A Shout of White!

The year’s at the spring
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hillside’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn;
God’s in His heaven –
All’s right with the world!
