Nowata Spring Clean Up Day

This is the press release sent to me by Billie Roane about the Spring Clean Up Day. I hope this event has a good turn-out!

Official 2009 Spring Clean Up Day in Nowata is Saturday, April 25

Plan now to be part of Oklahoma’s springtime statewide cleanup.

Teams, clubs and volunteers are encouraged to participate in Nowata’s participation in the 18th annual “Keep Oklahoma Beautiful” on Saturday, April 25, from 8:30-12:00noon. The event is Oklahoma’s Spring Clean Up and is being held in conjunction with the Great American Clean Up across the nation which runs from March 1-May 31, 2009.

The Nowata Beautification Committee, City of Nowata and Nowata Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the event for the day. Participating groups and individuals will gather from 8:30-9:00 am at the Jack Gordon Park to register and to receive street assignments for clean up and pick up trash bags and safety vests for highway collectors. Youth volunteers will need adequate adult supervision.

Everyone will meet back at the park at noon for a picnic and celebration to say thank you for an important job well done. And, there will be cash prizes given this year. Categories will include:

  • Most Participants from a Spring Clean Up Day Group-$50.00

  • Youngest Spring Clean Up Day Collector-$25.00

  • Oldest Spring Clean Up Day Collector-$25.00

  • Most Unusual Spring Clean Up Day Found Object -$25.00

Another opportunity for recycling will be the “Cell Phones For Soldiers” box that will be set up for everyone to bring their old cell phones and chargers which provides assistance for soldiers to keep in touch with loved ones.

The “rain date” for the Nowata event will be the following Saturday, May 2 at 8:30am.

Form a group or come alone, but either way-Come join the fun and help make Nowata a cleaner place to live and help beautify the roadsides of Oklahoma!

Thanks, Billie!

We will be buying a farm there as soon as we can get there and set up…Can you give me any info on this ? Thank You Mike and Debbie
