Nowata 2nd Saturday Clean Up Day

The After Shot

On June 13th, a gang of volunteers spent a few hours sprucing up some areas in downtown.  This  community improvement endeavour is headed by Tom & Billie Roane. There are all kinds of jobs for all ages and abilities; our youngest helper, Alexandria who is four and she enjoyed picking flowers and sweeping.

By working together for a improved community, the residents, neighbors, government, schools, churches, businesses and clubs can get more accomplished than each on their own. These clean-up days would be a rewarding project for the area youth groups. If you can’t weed eat or rake, think about bringing snacks or lunch for the crew (my suggestion).

PRESS RELEASE FOR  AUGUST 8th, 2009

Volunteers are invited to turn out to work from 8:30 am to 12:30pm on August 8th in downtown Nowata. Due to the heat of the day, the work day will begin at 8:30am and will end with lunch at 12:30pm. Volunteers will meet at Spike’s Park on Cherokee Street and work on Cherokee and Delaware streets in the downtown area, as well as, the downtown side streets, doing weed eating and general clean up of the sidewalks and streets.

Volunteers with a weedeater, brooms, hoe, trimmer, shovel, etc., please bring to use, but anyone wanting to work does not have to have anything to volunteer except a willingness to help out. Also, bring a water bottle, as there will be a jug of water at Spike’s Park to fill up bottles.

Anyone and everyone are welcome to come and work for a few hours and be treated to a picnic lunch at the park. For more information, contact Tom or Billie Roane at (918)559-2634.
